K9 Magic
K9 Magic and Officer Scott Sopata, Oshkosh Police Department
K9 Magic served the Oshkosh Police Department with unwavering committment, offering comfort, emotional support, and kindness to her fellow officers and the community from March 2022 until her untimely passing. As the department's first therapy dog, Magic was integral to the Behavioral Health Team, assisting with mental health-related calls, critical incidents, and highly emotional situations.
Throughout her service, K9 Magic was deployed 364 times, each time using her remarkable intuition and gentle presence to help those in need. Her work alongside Behavioral Health Officer Scott Sopata and Mental Health Crisis Specialist Kayla Rodriguez left a lasting impact on the lives of countless individuals, both within the department and in the broader community.
In addition to her official duties, Magic was a beloved figure at community events such as "Magic Moments" at Oshkosh North High School and "Coffee with a Cop" at Oshkosh West High. Whether visiting local shelters, crisis centers, or hospitals, Magic was always ready to provide comfort. She had a special ability to sense who needed her the most, and her calming presence left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Magic's life was tragically cut short by an unexpected illness, but her legacy of compassion and service will be forever remembered. She touched countless lives, providing comfort in the most difficult moments and reminding us of the healing power of a dog's love.
Magic, your service was extraordinary, and your impact will never be forgotten. Rest in peace—you were truly one of a kind.
